1. Set up a subscription to Xero accounting software at the Xero website

2. Give us permission to disclose information about your accounts to Xero by completing an Authority to Disclose Information form

If you use Business Internet Banking you fill in the form and activate your feeds online. If you use Business Online Plus or Commercial Online Banking, you need to do this by post. Read on for more on how to do this.

What you need to know

We’re up front with our customers about everything. We’ve created this handy summary of Xero Accounting key features so you can see the important information from the get-go.

Start dates for receiving transactions

Once we have all the relevant information, it takes 2 working days to activate a direct bank feed.

Feeds are sent daily Monday to Friday.

Past transactions

Transactions from before you had a feed in place won’t be sent to Xero. You’ll need to input those manually – or, if you were already using Xero, just keep inputting your transactions as normal until your feeds start up.

Having problems connecting your account to Xero?

To connect your account to Xero, your personal information needs to match up. If the personal information you gave us is different to what you tell Xero, you’ll be asked to enter it again.

Common mismatches are:

  • ‘Invalid organisation’ – this might happen if your organisation name doesn’t match up between us and Xero. To make sure it’s an exact match, try copying and pasting the organisation name from the top left corner of your Xero screen.
  • ‘Invalid user’ – this might happen if your email address doesn’t match up between us and Xero. Again, try copying and pasting from your Xero screen. To see your email address, click on your name in the top right corner of your Xero screen, then click Account.
